Brief Introduction

Dr Sinderpal Singh has a PhD in International Politics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. He was awarded both the E.H. Carr Scholarship and the Overseas Post-Graduate Research Scholarship to undertake the PhD. He obtained his MA in International Relations from the Australian National University. He did his undergraduate degree, with a major in Political Science, at the National University of Singapore.

In terms of work experience, he has worked as an Assoc. Research Fellow at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (NTU) from 2000 till 2002. During his writing up stage of his PhD, he was a Research Associate at ISAS for a short stint of about six months in 2005-2006. Prior to taking up this appointment, he was Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the South Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore. This involved, besides research work, conducting undergraduate instruction in several modules offered by the South Asian Studies Programme.

Indian foreign policy; Indian domestic 'identity' debates; the international politics of the South Asian region; international relations (IR) theory; the study of regionalism within IR;
